Kitchen Garden Organics was formed in 1990 to link producers in developing countries with markets for finished products. Rather than buying commodities for packing in the EU, our producers use prime ingredients, packed fresh at source, adding value, investment, expertise, and generating employment in developing countries.
Low Cost Input Smallholder Farming Development
Kitchen Garden Organics works with agriculturally focused NGOs such as the FAO, to improve yields in smallholder agriculture. Smallholders generally do not use adequate fertiliser for optimum yield owing to high costs and other constraints. Trials are being run on the use of low cost inputs – e.g. legumes and rock phosphate to improve fertility, using much the same inputs as are permitted under Organic rules. These are cheaper than chemically derived fertilisers.
