Crops are grown on a company owned farm and a leased plot,
and contracted organic crops are grown by smallholder farmers in
the Southern African region. The company farm is the base for the production
of most of the herbs, and the site of the stills for the production of essential oils.
Farm nationalisations have not affected this small farm. The leased plot of land on the Mozambique border is where tropical
crops such as Black Pepper and Cardamom are grown. We are also co-operating with
small-scale farmers who generally achieve low yields and cannot afford expensive
artificial fertilisers.
Our organic farming approach using low cost rock dusts and rotations with
legume crops which fix nitrogen has increased yields for contract farmers and their
neighbours.
Samual, attending Sunnhemp which fixes Nitrogen, adds mulch and stops erosion.
